Murmuring Pines
- Viper was originally written by enigmatic songwriter Peter DeGroot of Keizer, Oregon, who by our latest calculation has written about 2,000 songs. In fact, Peter wrote 13 other songs the day he wrote Viper, but it's still arguably the best example of his pop brilliance. For this single, Viper was recorded by Murmuring Pines with a red-hot vocal exhibition from Lilly Gemany. Murmuring Pines members spanned Oregon's greenery from Silverton to Salem, Corvallis to Portland.

About
- This is the forest primeval.
The murmuring pines and hemlocks,
Bearded with moss, and in garments green, indistinct in the twilight,
Stand like Druids of eld, with voices sad and prophetic,
Stand like harpers hoar, with beards that rest on their bosoms.
Murmuring Pines are on indefinite hiatus. The group was populated at different times with combinations of Julian Snow, Katy Allen-Farris, Lilly Gamaney, Beth Scheppke, Daniel Rafn, Jaime Hamre, Thomas Nunes, Tim Myles, Mike Renwick, and Mitch Duafa. Their recordings include The Night & the Bell (2010 album), and Viper (2012 single).
- The Murmuring Pines first recording, The Night & the Bell catalogs Julian's meditations and nightmares that arose from his habitual night-walks through Salem streets in the fall & winter. The songs are each a haunting of their own themes, and range from the uneasiness of contemplating death, to the personified love affair between a Salem fixture church-tower bell, and the night herself. Much from this album was tracked live in Tom Nunes' living room with all five members of the group. At the time, the roster was Julian Snow, Katy Allen-Farris, Lilly Gamaney, Beth Scheppke, Jaime Hamre, & Daniel Rafn.
